The history of Advantage Lites & Louvers begins in 1938 with the founding of Leslie Welding Company in Chicago, Illinois, a small specialty welding company, also involved in making miscellaneous metal ventilation products.

Locke Manufacturing was founded in the 1950’s as a producer of ornamental iron railing and columns, and quickly became a leader in this industry, with the majority of its sales through distributors.

In 1967 Locke Manufacturing merged with Leslie Building Products Company, and Leslie Locke Building Products was formed manufacturing door accessories, ductwork, ventilation and ornamental iron products. Following its purchase of Leslie Locke Building Products in 1998, GAF Materials Corporation operated the company as a division called LL Building Products Inc. (LLBP)

At the end of 2004, ZERO INTERNATIONAL acquired the Door Louvers and Vision Lites product line from LLBP and created Advantage Lites & Louvers. ZERO continues manufacture of the product line in Burgaw, North Carolina.
